Run a 10K
Each month, on the last Sunday, Windle Valley Runners holds a club 10K Handicap Race for members. Starting and finishing at Heathpark Drive in Windlesham (map), the race winds round the leafy lanes towards Chobham and back towards Windlesham. The course is accurately measured and the races are accurately timed. You can check out the route on this map.
The race is run on a handicap basis. What does that mean? The idea is that runners set off at different times in a staggered start, commencing from about 9.30am, depending on their speed, with the aim of everyone finishing roughly together at 10.30am. So instead of a mass start, you get a mass finish, which is a lot more fun! And everyone has a chance of being first home, if on the day they are running well for their normal standard. Not that the winner gets a prize, but they get the glory for that day, and a mention in our Facebook report.
All members are encouraged to come along when they can, either to race or to assist with the race timing.
If you’re not a member yet, but are thinking of joining us, these 10K’s are a good chance to meet members of the club – feel free to come along and give us (and yourself) a tryout – but check the club diary first to make sure you’re coming on the right date.
Members – not been along for a while? Time you did another one now 🏃♂️🏃♀️
