Club Championship & Trophies
Each year, we have our Club Championship awards.
We have two separate trophies that are awarded, the Men's Champion and the Ladies' Champion. They are determined by your aggregate best times run during the calendar year at three distances - Half Marathon, 10 Miles and 10k. Simple! We produce a ranking for all members of the club who have done the three distances, and there are trophies awarded to the top three men and top three ladies.
The following puts into effect the changes to the club competitions that was agreed at the special General Meeting held on 5th February, 2024:
- In addition, there shall be age group prizes for each of men and women in the following age categories - Senior (18-39); 40-49; 50-59; 60-69 and 70+. If a runner is in the first three of the main Club Championship, they will not qualify for the separate age group prize as well.
- There shall be an additional Championship open to Invincibles only*. This will be based on the aggregate of the runner’s best three 5k races (parkruns count) and best three 10k races. There will be a prize for the quickest female runner and the quickest male runner. Anyone winning an Age Group prize in the Club Championship will not be eligible to win the Invincibles Championship. *Invincibles are regarded as runners who usually train in this group on a Tuesday.
We also have several other annual trophies - Roland's Trophy for the best age-related performance of the year; the Peter Dimmock Trophy for the club's most improved runner; the Paula Fudge Trophy is awarded for outstanding distance running performances; the parkrun Award and Cross Country Award are for exceptional performances in those disciplines or contributions to the club's presence at these events; the Coaches' Award and the Windle Valley Award are for significant achievements or contributions to the club in the past year.
The trophies are awarded at our annual Awards Celebration, which is held in January at Chobham Golf Club. Your invitation will be sent to you during December. This is the highlight of the social calendar! The speeches are kept to a minimum to allow maximum time for dancing or chatting at the bar.
Good racing and good luck!
The small print:
- if you have joined partway through the year, only race times after you joined will count
- if you have not raced the three specified distances during the year, you can alternatively submit your best five 10K times from the year
- second claim members are not eligible
