Ron Hill Roman Nine, Stratford Upon Avon, 14th January
Greetings from up north (well, the Midlands!). Just because I have moved hasn't stopped me entering this year's London Marathon so training is now in full flow.
As part of the training I entered the Ron Hill Roman 9 which can only be described as a short version of the Marlow Half Marathon. The course went through some very pretty countryside and had some very similar "undulations" - better known as rather steep hills! It was a very sunny day but very icy so after struggling all the way up the steepest hill, you then had to do Torvill and Dean pirouettes all the way down it. Surprisingly there were no broken bones. The course was virtually traffic free and the race very well attended and organised. Your recompense was a brightly coloured mug so at least you got something useful for your effort.
There were a few representatives from Reading Roadrunners and some Oxford clubs so if you fancy in a nice run in a very pretty part of the country, it is well worth considering for 2002.
Best of luck to everyone doing marathons this year, hopefully see you at Wokingham and Bramley.
