MEMBER PROFILE

Name
Bob Webb
Birthplace       Bagshot
Occupation     Woodwind Teacher at various local schools

Following some very good running performances at school Bob retired from the sport at a very early age.
He came out of retirement at the age of 40 and ran two excellent marathon times (both sub 2:50).  Following this he introduced the Windlesham Fun Run, Windlesham 10k     and Brickmakers Relay Marathon which helped encourage running in the area.  This local running boom soon led to the formation of WVR.  He continues to help organise the local
events and despite a few lean years due to injuries he is making another comeback.  Roland's Trophy Winner 1998??

I hope the above Member profile goes some way to explain why the Committee have seen fit to bestow upon me the honour of being your President.  As I sit writing this after my Sunday run at Virginia Water, and reflect upon past achievements I am content with my lot.  However, competing in the Runnymede Runners, Windsor relay last July was still a thrill which hopefully will be repeated this year (foot and mouth permitting)
Yes, one race a year is about my limit now, although by the time you read this I will have run from Greenwich to Westminster in a straight line, being part of the support team at the London.  It's such an exciting day out and brings back memories, some good, some bad but you soon forget those.  Was it really nearly twenty years ago.
Returning to the present, we must be one of the most popular clubs around with so many new members joining.  This is obviously down to the friendly atmosphere created by each and every one of you.  Remember running need only be the catalyst that brings such a nice bunch of people together.
