Chris Dent reports:

WVR members have been busy this summer. The extreme heat has not deterred them from turning out to local and sometimes not so local races. I apologise if I have missed any of our members or any races they may have entered.

I must mention some notable performances especially by the girls in the Yateley 10ks.

Sarah Calver, Kate Archer, Dawn Straker & Chris Peppiatt scoring age category points. Sarah and Dawn scoring in all 3 and finishing 6^th and 7^th respectively in their category. Chris P would have won her category overall if she had been able to run the final race (holiday). I must mention that Geoff Williams also scored points in races 1 and 2 but was not available for the last. After completing the last one I checked my records and established it was the 31^st time I had trudged around the course. 

The Wargrave 10K saw Dave Pearce struggling round with his Achilles injury (hope to see you back in action soon Dave). Katie leading us home first followed by myself and Dave. Another T Shirt for the drawer.

The Woodland 5s don’t get any easier. Dawn, Chris P, Bridget and myself completing all 3. Well done to us.! 

Only 5 of us turned out for the Forest 5, The Look Out  being familiar to most of us as being our  summer training venue using the very course. 

I had great concerns about running the Dorney Dash 10K on what was a very hot and cloudless day. Eton Rowing lake does not offer any shade at all. Although a flat course, with the intense heat all our times were a little below par. 

Richard Sherlock and myself were the only club representatives at the Tadley 10K, both trying this one out for the first time. A sharp uphill section at 7K put paid to any ultra fast times. 

The following week saw a trip down to the Elmbridge 10K. We were led home by Jenny Peppiatt and Dawn, followed up by Colin Woods, myself and Simon Cutmore. 

With the last Woodland 5 only 2 days old my next trip was to Bushy Park for the Stragglers 26^th Wedding Day 7K. I was joined by Colin and Richard for this pleasant run in the park. Another T Shirt !.

No time to put our feet up !!. Next was the WVR Handicap 10K followed by the last Yateley.
