Windlesham Fun Run      30th May 1998
I hope that you enjoyed our event and that the new race routes weren’t too confusing. Following a few disappointing years it was encouraging that we had 147 entrants this year. The club really appreciates the tremendous support of Woodcote House School who entered 50 runners this year. Without their participation the event would not be a success. Next year it would be great if more schools could enter groups of pupils and perhaps a team prize could be established.
I would like to thank the Field of Remembrance for the use of the Field & Pavilion and St. John’s Ambulance Brigade for their assistance at the event. All proceeds will be donated to these worthy causes shortly.
Many members of Windle Valley Runners, their friends and relatives made an excellent contribution by taking late entries, marshalling and timekeeping etc. Without this help the event would not take place. Also thanks to Sid Cook MBE for starting the events & presenting the prizes. Thank you.
Finally thanks to all entrants and I hope to see you next year (date to be confirmed). But should you wish to run before then why don’t you consider joining Windle Valley Runners? Also we are organising two more events this year. Our Relay Marathon on 4th July is for teams of 10 adults and our Sports Day on Monday 31st August is for all the family. Please contact me for details.

30th May gave us fine weather on the Remembrance Field Windlesham, the usual venue for the 1998 Annual Fun Run. As usual we were very well supported by Woodcote House both in the Junior Teams and the over 16s.
