After a rainy start to the day, the weather cleared to give ideal sunny and warm conditions for the Windle Valley Sports Day 1997.

Each of the contestants were representing either a Red or Blue team. This year the Blue team captained by Peter Taylor won for the second year running with 209 points, while Chris Peppiatt's Red team came a close second with 202 points.

The egg and spoon race was entertaining, and we were treated to an excellent finish by Jonathan Vickery in the adult race.

In the first mile race , Mike Oliver finished with a brisk 5min25secs, and in the second heat Tasha James posted a very creditable 6mins16secs

The airline stewards race provided us with a father and daughter combination with Paul Conlan and his daughter Eleanor showing us how to run with 4 cups of water, without a spillage!

As for the serious races, Trevor Raggett came racing home in the 100m Adults race, and his son Glen won the 1500m race. Well done Ragetts!
